    What is the Kelly Criterion?

The Kelly Criterion computes the mathematically optimal fraction of your bankroll to stake given your edge: bet more when the edge is big and the odds are short, less when the edge is thin or the payout is a longshot. Full Kelly maximizes long-term growth but is brutally volatile — most sharp bettors stake a fraction of it (quarter or half Kelly) to smooth out the ride.

    How to use it

    1. 1.Enter your bankroll and a Kelly multiplier (0.25 = quarter Kelly, the common choice).
    2. 2.Enter the odds offered and your estimated true win probability.
    3. 3.The recommended bet is the Kelly fraction of bankroll, scaled by your multiplier.

    Example

With a $1,000 bankroll, a bet at +100 you think wins 55% of the time has a full-Kelly stake of $100 — quarter Kelly says bet $25.
